The Columbines Camping Chapter was formed in 1969, with Colorado Family Campers and RVers (FCRV). Many of our members have been with the Columbines for over 25 years and so now our club has grown to consist of working adults and retired members. Most of our members reside in the Greater Denver area, from Henderson, to Watkins, to Parker!
We encourage and accept all types of campers–most of our families camp with 5th wheels, travel trailers, motorhomes and on site cabins. Columbines generally select camping areas with partial or full hookups within a 100 mile radius of Denver. One or more member families volunteer to be the “Wagonmaster” for each campout/event and arrange optional activities such as potlucks, tours, dinners out, throughout the summer (April through October). We plan our camping trips for Friday thru Sunday, with some members arriving earlier or staying longer, depending on their free time. Some of our member families often have their dogs/cats along for the weekend.
We enjoy activities and tours near our camping area. Of course a potluck sometimes is planned which is always so yummy.
- Afternoon activities could be tour of museum, ladder ball, beanbags, nature trail walks, fishing
- Evening activities could be dominoes, card games, star gazing, sitting around the fire and eating smores.
In the winter months, we plan monthly weekend meetings at restaurants and member’s homes. We gather toys for children, socks and gloves for homeless and send greeting cards to the troops in December. Between events, we stay in touch via Email and Facebook regarding planning for campouts and activities.

So if you would like to use your camping skills more than once or twice a year, come camp with us! You might be a stranger at first but will be a friend forever!
