The Mountain Goats are a camping club associated with the national organization of Family Campers and RVers (FCRV). We are mostly older adults who love the outdoors and enjoy camping together. However, It is not unusual to have our adult children camp with us from time to time. Currently the Mountain Goats do not have any children.
Colorado is a wonderful state for dispersed camping, that is driving up an old mining or forest road to find an abandoned fire ring and a stand of aspens waiting for you to stop awhile. Since Colorado is home to 5 national forests, you can find us in more established national forest campgrounds, or state parks, as well. Whether it be primitive camping or camping hooked up to electricity in a state park, we love to hike, sightsee, mountain bike and sit around a campfire.
During the winter months it’s too cold to be in the mountains, so we take in local sights, museums, new restaurants or dinner at somebody’s house. However, we are always glad when the camping season starts with the warmer weather, and we can get outdoors again. It’s never a surprise to find us in an unexpected snow storm in the cooler months, but we don’t mind.
If you like to be outdoors, come join us–we love to visit with new people who share our joy of the outdoors.
