Aspen Adventurers – Mixed Age

ASPEN ADVENTURERS

The Aspen Adventurers is a camping chapter associated with Colorado Family Campers and RVers (FCRV). We are a mixed age group that includes adults, retirees, and families with children. The love of the outdoors and camping brought us together.

Colorado is a wonderful state to explore with ten National Forest areas, numerous National Parks, and State Parks. We take advantage of the great outdoors that Colorado has to offer and mainly camp in National Parks and State Parks. We plan our camping trips for the third weekend (Friday through Sunday) of the month and we try to keep the location within a few hours of the Denver metro area.

We welcome children of all a ages, currently we have children ages 8 to 15. We enjoy hiking, riding bikes, activities with the kids big and small, bean bag baseball, potlucks, crafts with the kids, playing games or cards, dutch oven cooking, and sitting around the campfire. We welcome all types of campers and modes of camping, from tents to Class A’s.

All of our campouts have a host that makes all of the reservations for the group except for State Parks. This ensures that we are all camped together. You may also make your own reservations. Since State Parks have changed their reservation systems, members have to make their own reservations. Winter functions also has a host that makes all of the arrangements and planning. You just show up and have fun.

We begin our camping season with an annual Easter Egg Hunt and finish the season with Trick or Treating from camper to camper. Everyone has fun – some decorate their site or dress-up. There is always plenty to do from Easter/Halloween games to Easter/Halloween activities. Depending on where we are camping we may take part in local activities that are available from local shopping, hiking, site seeing, and enjoying the local fare at restaurants. On Saturdays we have a potluck breakfast and a potluck dinner. Friday and Saturday evenings you will find us playing games or cards or around the campfire socializing and making s’mores and other goodies with the kids.

Although April and October campouts are a favorite for the children, they also enjoy seeing their camping buddies every month. Needless to say, everyone is ready for adventure month to month.

During the winter months we take in museums, restaurants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, potlucks at members homes, bowling, and tours around the Denver area. In December, we have a Christmas party with a gift exchange. We also dream of warmer weather so we can get outdoors and start the camping season again.

Our chapter is very active in supporting FCRV attending Spring Fling and Statewide campouts. These events offer us the opportunity to interact with other Colorado FCRV members from other groups and allows the children to make even more friends.

We are seeking additional members that love to camp and enjoy the outdoors. If you are interested in joining us on our monthly Adventures, contact us to join in on the fun!
