Rocky Toppers – Adults Only

Club Location:                    Colorado Springs, CO

Campout Dates:                May through September

Meetings:                           Monthly

Current Membership:    22

The Rocky Toppers is an “Adults Only” chapter, and we are currently looking for new members.  We tend to camp at established campgrounds that have the basic hook-ups: electric, water and sewer.  That is not to say we won’t consider dry camping on occasion.  The sites are chosen by a “host” member to be held the 3rd weekend of the month, and we try to keep the travel to each location within 2 to 3 hours of Colorado Springs.  The camp weekend usually starts on Friday and ends on Sunday.

Our group consists of a mixed group of individuals, those who are still working and those who have retired.  Our members have used tents while others have various types of RVs (Class A, Class C, Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheelers).   Some of us even make use of cabins when they are available either on site or nearby.

We like to take part in any local activities that are available in the area at the time.  These include town fairs, local shopping, and local festivities (bakeoffs or grilling contests, flea markets, art festivals, historical interests, fishing, hiking, general site seeing, just to name a few).   We may participate as a group or split up into smaller groups according to individual interests.  We usually come back together for a club potluck and morning breakfasts.  On Friday night the host usually determines what the first night meal will be so that everyone is not scrambling to get a meal together that first night.

On the non-camping months, we hold meetings/gatherings.  In December we have a Christmas party with a white elephant gift exchange.  In February, we meet to watch the Super Bowl even when our favorite team is not playing.  The other months we have meetings to conduct our chapter’s business regarding our trips, party details, and interests each member brings to the group.
